I already read this sticky http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=28743&sid=fdb83d86071640c1d9c64be5602a5f4a
But its basicly trash because there is no setup explained properly or troubleshot either.
I followed as far as i could but i never receive an dns error like it was explained in the tut above.
My Specs:
PS3 Slim
Windows 7 32 Bit / XP
Kai 7.4.18 and older versions tryed.(Starts with Admin rights)
(Firewall and other security Software is disabled for testing purpose)
What i have already tried:
PS3 Slim > PC's 2nd LAN per crossover cat6 > Kai
PS3 Slim > PC Adhoc Wlan > Kai
PS3 Slim > Lan Router patch cable cat6 or wlan > Kai
PS3 Slim > PC's Network Bridge for Lan 1&2 crossover cat6 > Kai
Also giving the console real internet data and psn works.
When i start as explained in the TUT and search for open games or host them, Kai doesnt detect my PS3 (no console found)
(Warhawk / Hawx2 / Haze)
Usualy i use the same cable for my xbox360 in the following setting:
360 > PC's 2nd Lan > Kai
360 / PS3: (i switch the cable)
IP: 192.168.0.2
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.0.1 (PC)
DNS: 192.168.0.1 (PC)
PC:
IP: 192.168.0.1
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
For my 360, first try, works well and played a lot games together via Kai.
PS3, absolutly no go. Unable to detect my console...
My Friend has a PS3 Fat, he used the same settings
and it works for him.
Are there limitations to the MAC like for 360?
Any suggestions to fix this? |

Ok , here is how i connected my Ps3 .
Modem - Network cable - first network card in my computer - 2nd network card in my computer - network cable - Ps3 .
I enabled Internet Connection Sharing on the computer and started a game of Warhawk .
I then looked for a game in lan mode , that way Kai will find the Ps3 .
After that i was hosting and people where joining .
BTW , Wireless with a Ps3 & XLink Kai is never tested . |

Thats similar what i did with network bridge. The console got Internet via
my PC and i am able to connect to psn. When i try to check up kai with
Warhawk like you did, no chance :/
I'll try using sharing the connection, but i guess it will fail as well.
EDIT:
As i thought, internet works for console using connection sharing,
but kai still doesnt detect it. ://
Any other suggestions?
EDIT2:
I tested my traffic with wireshark, i can clearly see that the ps3 sends data but Kai doesnt react to it.
For my 360 it works, iam confused. |

I use a bridged connection on my PC. Like my PC gets wireless internet and then I bridge the wired and wireless connection and run a normal ethernet cord from the wired network card on my PC to the ps3 and xlink kai works with it.
I am using version 7.3.1.7 of Xlink Kai. The newer versions do not work properly with PS2, so maybe they have the same problem with PS3. When I tested Saints Row 2, COD:WAW, Red Faction Guerrilla, and Unreal Tournament 3, with Xlink Kai both users were using version 7.3.1.7 of Xlink Kai.
Also, if you sign into PSN xlink kai will not work. Like you need to have Xlink Kai open and running on your PC before you turn on your PS3. That way when your PS3 turns on and tries to sign into PSN it cant because XLink Kai takes over the connection. |
