cant see syslink games; no ping as a host

Brief description of your network setup:

I have a DI-614+ (dlink) router. My computer and the xbox are individually wired to the router. My xbox has a static ip. I have UDP port 30000 (kai port) forward to my pc running the kai engine. I have UDP port 3074 forward to 0.0.0.1 (i've been trying everything).

Do you use a software firewall? What brand? Have you made any changes to it? No software firewall
Operating System? Win XP Pro SP2 (firewall disabled)
Problem description?

I cannot see system link games. No one can connect to games i host. They say they can't ping me as a host.

Hmm, I don't think you need to forward ports on the D-Link routers. You should be set and ready to go so I am sure it is something simple. If you use MSN, would you mine me RC into your computer to check it out? If you want send me a MSN from the link below.

That's a *SOFTWARE* firewall instruction. Remove it from the router.

I disabled the port forwarding rule and re-enabled it and all is well. I deleted the port 3074 rule also. Another thing that may help other is I had to stop my router from discarded pings from the WAN.

Now I can't see how many games are going on (i get question marks '?' in lots of places in the PC UI) but i do see the sys link games in halo now. So I'm happy. This problem is now resolved.

The '?' in the UI is just a problem with the orbs getting correct user numbers for the arenas.

Update: User did not respond within 5 days. Setting to Problem Solved.
