I just spoke with Schweino and told him to delay the tests until tomorrow. A new Kai Engine will be sent out tomorrow which should fix up this problem. If it doesn't we can continue to play around. Let's hope it does |

Schweino informed me on this thread.
Ingame voice chat works just fine in Halo2.
I helped out a fresh uses earlyer and joined his game. 6-7 players inside, all on all type of game, and people chatted just fine. |

odd, I just tried it in 2 different private arenas in Halo2/europe and again I could only talk to the guy hosting the game and the others didn't hear me at all (and when the others spoke, also the host could only hear them). |

Just tested again, still doesn't work.
And there's an extra problem now, when playing in messenger mode, the xlink engine crashed on the PC (for all players), this happened about every 10 miutes or so.... |

YES
I now see what you are seeing (or don't hear what your not hearing )
It is being worked on.
It happens because the bandwith gets high enough to trigger the *STOP TUNNELING TO NEW IP"S* trigger.
Halo 2 is a server client game so the game it'self is played with 1 host who will relay to all the clients
the problem is the voice is seperate from the game. it is sent directly to the other clients P2P style.
Once the game starts you get locked into tunneling to the host only. that is why you are not able to talk to anyone but the host and why the host can talk to everyone and hear everyone.
If everyone in an arena had their status set to Hosting the Voice would never cut out
but the problem is your game would get lagged out if you where not in a private limited user arena.
Will update you more when we have an official fix. I have some ideas that should help solve the problem. |

So, Die-Hard, why does it work in messenger mode then? And why did the Kai engine (pc/winXP) crash all the time when we played in messenger mode? The odd thing is btw that when we switched from one person to another who was the party leader in Halo2, the crashing occurred less often, so it seemed like it was client dependable (which sounds odd to me since the Kai engine crashed for all of the players (7) at thesame time each time) |
