Ghost Recon 2: Ping Limit ~ 250 I think

I've run into this problem myself and met a few others who have experienced this too. What I am able to discern is that there is a ping limit of approximately 250.

Meaning that if your ping to the host is greater than 250 you will be able to see the game but not connect to it.

Its not an incompatibility issue because after many attempts some have been able to join games (when their ping has been fluctuating between 220-280) only to have it disconnect when the pings get to the higher end of this range.

Others like myself can only see the hosted games and not be able to join, when all other games work fine. I guess that this is Ubi's "improvement" in their net code.

So if you're having probs try to stick with players nearby/with sub 250 pings preferably much lower.

It'd be interesting to hear others experiences, if anyone is able to connect to a host when their pings are greater than 250ish please post.

Yeah I too have this problem

Anyone out there know if there is a way to modify the game at our end to be able to raise the cut off point?

I would go for less than 200 pings. I'll have to find Shaggy to test this. He is around the 200 region to me.

I played with no problems with a guy that had a 60-70 ping to me.

I've tried and failed to connect to pings of ~250ms (kaotic).

Maybe I was wrong, I just heard Jag Ace of T@G playing with about a 270ms ping to the host.

I will have to try with Carnage again.

I just joined a game tonight to [method] with 210ms ping but I had to press the green button lots of times. Maybe It was to wait for them to enter the lobby?

I could connect to a host in the states with a 460ms ping, that was with 15 other people.

This is just a wild thought, but.. could it have anything to do with issues between the multiple releases of the game (ie. nuked and repack)?

Maybe it does let you connect, but on certain operations/settings/maps w/e in the game it goes wild..?

nuked one had crc errors....but theres a simple fix for it...

jus open up the rar file....then click on the extract button....and in the bottom left corner there should be a box that says keep broken files and u have to check it.....now set the path for the iso and click ok...ur all done Very Happy

the repack doesnt have the crc error so u dont have to check the box...all u do is extract like normal

Yeah but that was where I was getting at... Maybe the keep broken rars (ie crc errors) make some pieces in the game not work with repack versions..

2 things I don't like about this game:

1. The Waiting on co-op missions
2. Only supports play by private arena 'entry'.

Same problem here.Ping is 300 and i'm not able to connect to a host.

all i can say is at least they have set it at a reasonabe limit, not like m$ did with Links 2k4

Yeh the links thing sucks, for such a slow paced game. you think they would of set it higher.
