I cant get xlink kai to work with xbmc, this is the error message I get
"The service is not connected, would you like to attempt reconnecting it with xbox media center"

Here are my specs

XBMC (Build 11.27.04)
IP Address - 192.168.0.3
Subnet - 255.255.255.0
Gateway - 192.168.0.1
DNS - 205.171.3.65

Xlink Kai Settings
Username - Dr_digitaL
Password - **************
Games Directory - f:\EMU\XBOX\
(I know weird name for the directory but thats how i have my xbmc customized to my liking)

Newsfeed and streaming is working

And you've use the PC client and know it works before blindly going in and trying to use XBMC?

If it works through the PC client but still not joy through XBMC, you could try changing the Network Adapter from 'Autodetect and Lock' to your specific NIC in the dropdown list.

This is what solved my issues after wasting an hour messing around with ips Smile

Your post seems to support that you're having a PC (XLink engine) <> XBMC connectivity issue. So the problem could be related to:

1) An XBOX or PC network config issue (very unlikely given the info you've posted).
2) Hardware not routing broadcast UDP traffic to your PC.
3) Software on your PC blocking incoming broadcast UDP traffic.
4) A software issue with the XLink engine (unlikely but possible).

I'll add some extra debug output and fail-safe options to the CVS tonight so that we can get to the bottom of this; at the very least it will confirm at which point XBMC is failing to detect/connect to the XLink engine.

BTW which OS and Service Pack are you using - are you running any firewall software / IP filtering? Would strongly suggest you disable all of these while troubleshooting.

PS. Not related but change your games directory in XBMC Kai settings to:
'f:\EMU\XBOX' (there should not be a trailing backslash).

now that i think about it this could be the issue:
Quote:
2) Hardware not routing broadcast UDP traffic to your PC.
3) Software on your PC blocking incoming broadcast UDP traffic.

reason being i cant connect to my ftp server as well, damn what could it be?

I've checked in very low-level debugging support and the ability to specify XLink engine host IP in CVS 29th Nov.; to enable full debug logging just tweak the relevant setting in .xml; you'll be able to see if XBMC has anything to do with your issues.

Be careful to check the log file you generate before you post it here, it may contain your username+password in plaintext.

Good stuff. You have to set up 0.0.0.1 full access on UDP 3074 if you want it to work while it's turned on..
