You will need to run Kai in Compatibility mode to fix this.

1. open Program Compatibility in Control Panel > Programs under Programs and Features click Run programs made for a previous version of Windows

2. Click Next to start the diagnostics

3. Select Not Listed and click Next

4. Open Kai's location in Program Files (x86) > Xlink Kai > kaiEngine.exe and click Next

5. Click Troubleshoot Program

6. Select I don't see my problem listed and click Next

7. Select Windows XP (Service Pack 2)

8. Click Start the program...

9. If the program works click Next and Yes, save these settings for this program

10. If it does not work click No, try again using different settings and try different settings until you find something that works.

Hope you find this helpful, it works for my Windows 7 64-bit system and I hope it will work for you. Cheers.

Just as a test create a new admin account for your machine and run kai with admin previliges and see if it will run or not. If it will run with the new account it means that some sort of corruptions is in your old admin account.
