I am useing xbmc-2004-11-30 and I am still having problems with what games are showing up. I am getting games showing up that I no longer have on the HD or have a save file for also. However games that I do have and that are on the supported listed are not showing up. |

And you read the info that if you want to report what you consider a bug it should be WELL documented ?
What CVS build are you running? It's probably something that was fixed a while back because this rings a bell.. |

While I very much doubt the version you say you have is a complete or accurate build of the CVS 28th (or newer); I'm willing to accept that its always possible there may be a problem.
That said, if you'd like us to investigate we need more info than what little has been provided:
Once you've read the sticky topic entitled Latest CVS and Bugs, enable full debug logging as discussed there, prepare and post the contents of the xbmc.log (in the xbmc dir, ensuring to remove your username/password from the log file).
Also post the contents of the kai-vectors.xml file (in the xbmc dir)
Finally, post a directory listing of your e:\tdata dir - simple eh?
Edit
Note: if you've a lot of game saves on your XBOX, you should give XBMC a couple of minutes to resolve these with XLink, and so some games may pop up a little while later; this delay only happens once as the results are stored. |

It's not hostility, but when you talk to a lead developer of XBMC and say something's not working, that's useless to him |

Ah well that wasn't my intention, we just need to take a hard line about getting the necessary info to investigate these things.
Edit
Not specifically trying to single out our good man Noodlez here, this is a more general impression I have about people who feel that they can simply post a 2-3 line 'it doesn't work' type request, and expect the people on the other end of it to spend hours pulling there hair out over the problem. Its much more beneficial to the bug fixing process if the requester provides as much info as they possibly can. It irks me when people neglect to do this as we have mentioned this so many times, in sticky topics and individual posts. |

Ok I hope I got all the info and the right info
Anyway there seems to be alot so not to overclutter I have uploaded the info.
kai-vectors.xml
xbmc.log
tdata_dir.txt
I have let it just set there hopping it would find the games for upto 20min and that didn't have an effect of it.
Top Sin and Amped 2, as well as Outrun 2 and splinter cell, and midnight club are games I don't even have on the HD the MS dash as well as unleaskx report no save games for them as does the xbox save manager 4.5[/url] |

Note This post took the better part of two hours to put together so I can't promise I'll dive into similar posts with the same enthusiasm I was just keen to finally get to the bottom of these issues, so heres my analysis of the 3 files (xbmc.log, tdata_dir.txt, kai-vectors.xml) Noodlez posted.
The following games (including Top Sin and Amped 2, as well as Outrun 2 and Splinter Cell, and Midnight Club) have directories in E:\TDATA which is why XBMC picked them up, it would be interesting to know if there are corresponding directories in E:\UDATA.
The statment that XBMC only lists XLink compatible games for which you have game saves is incorrect. XBMC lists XLink compatible games which have been played on your XBOX irrespective of whether you have a game save or not.
X = XLink response cached in kai-vectors.xml
4d53004b X Project Gotham Racing 2
49470024 X Unreal Championship
41560001 X Tony Hawks 2x
4d530039 X RalliSport Challenge 2
434d0011 X ToCA Race Driver 2
4d530004 X Halo
454d0009 X FlatOut
4d530064 X Halo 2
41560042 X Tournament Paintball
4d530035 X Top Spin
4d530041 X Amped 2
53450036 X OutRun 2
55530019 X Splinter Cell - Pandora Tomorrow
54540008 X Midnight Club 2
The following games XBMC has detected and queried XLink - no response was received!
Whenever you see -> 'KAI_CLIENT_APP_SPECIFIC;XBE_ in the xbmc.log that'll be an instance when XBMC has asked the XLink engine to resolve a title to an arena. Notice how we never see
<- 'KAI_CLIENT_APP_SPECIFIC;XBE_ which would indicate a response from the engine.
As a result would have to say, there is either a problem with the engine or the orb you where connected to.
Q = XBMC queries XLink engine to resolve title but no response recieved.
Code: |
4541004b Q, 4541ffff Q, 4156000b Q, 41430019 Q, 45410042 Q, 54510021 Q
53450022 Q, 54540019 Q, 4947003d Q, 56550029 Q, 5454001a Q, 4b4e001b Q
5451000d Q, 4553000d Q, 49470025 Q, 54510022 Q, 54430003 Q, 49470038 Q
434d0010 Q, 53430005 Q, 45410051 Q, 53450028 Q, 41430003 Q, 53450030 Q
54540011 Q, 4541004d Q, 4947000f Q, 49470075 Q, 41430007 Q, 49470022 Q
54540018 Q, 45410053 Q, 4e4d0013 Q, 4541005b Q, 5553003a Q, 434d002b Q
4156003c Q, 45410054 Q, 4d570019 Q, 54540017 Q, 41560040 Q, 4541005a Q
45530014 Q, 4356000a Q, 53450033 Q, 45530016 Q |
The following games/titles fall outside the range of IDs assigned to normal retail games, consequently XBMC will not attempt to resolve these to XLink arenas.
Code: |
00000000, 01010001, 080299ff, 0face007, 0face008, 0facfac0, 0fffdaed,
141f0001, 64646464, a64fea57, f001601d, ffadf32f, ffff051f, ffff1982,
ffff1d1d, ffffba00 |
Conclusion and Recommendations
Q) XBMC is listing games for which I no longer have gamesaves.
The statment that XBMC only lists XLink compatible games for which you have game saves is incorrect. XBMC lists XLink compatible games which have been played on your XBOX irrespective of whether you have a game save or not.
- if it really bothers you, delete associated directories from E:\TDATA - in future we may offer the option to remove games from the list by deleting these old/oprhan directories.
Q) XLink compatible games that I own and have played are not appearing in XBMC
The analysis proves that XBMC has requested the XLink engine to resolve the games to arenas and the XLink engine has not responded.
Note: the XLink engine should only respond if it is a Kai supported game and there is an entry in the XLink APP SPECIFIC database.
- until this engine/orb issue is resolved there is little you can do however there is a workaround, if you look at kai-vectors.xml you'll see that it is a cache of games id's and their associated arenas. You can add to this list manually if you really need to. |

I spoke with TheDaddy earlier today, he thinks there may be a problem with the orb you're connected to - but to be sure we should wait for him to make an official comment. |

Thanks for looking into it,
I was wondering if there was a way to say what server to connect to, I noticed I have been getting the US Secondary West.
Might I be dumb and ask is there a tool that will show what the TDATA info is so I can clean it up a bit.
Anyway thanks for the help |

I don't know of any particular tool (perhaps Qwix?), but you could use kai-vectors.xml to help you on your quest. You can see each of the arenas assigned to their associated ID, if the arena is an old game you no longer have, simply kill the directory with the same ID, in E:\TDATA. |

XBox-Saves Manager can help you out. It's a little buggy, but just have to grab your game save lists. Then you right click on the name of the game, hit properties and you'll get the XBE ID..

I've checked all the orbs out here - they're responding to app_specific requests fine.. so the XBE mapping should be working..
I'll continue to look into the problem..

Please forgive me but where is kai-vectors.xml located? I've looked through all folders and couldn't see it (using 30th build.)
I ask because for some reason, the only game that shows up for me is 'timesplitters 2' however I own loads more system link games than this, so I want to add them manually. How about implementing an 'add system link game' option to xbmc? |

kai-vectors.xml file (in the xbmc dir) - CVS 29th and later. it gets created after you've been logged in for a couple of mins.
i thought about allowing users to manually add games from the XBMC UI, but since app specific is supposed to take care of this automatically I'd sooner see it bug fixed and working than implementing a whole new way of doing things.
personally i don't see any issues with the way app specific works, but since its clear other people aren't always getting a response back there must be a problem albeit it hidden. |
