Is your network reachable? Yes
Are you using a router? Yes (integrated into my DSL modem)
Did you set a static IP on the PC running Kai? Yes
Did you forward port 30000 to the static IP? Yes
Did you click the globe after forwarding to see if your network goes reachable? Yes it is
What console are you using? PS2
Is your console being detected? Yes
Brief description of your network setup: I have my iMac plugged into the ethernet port on the modem, and the PS2 pluggedinto another port on the modem.
Model numbers of the router, and modem? Arris NVG589
Do you use a software firewall? What brand? Have you made any changes to it? No firewall software, firewall is turned off in Mac OS X
Operating System? Mac OS X 10.10 (yosemite)
Problem description? Everything seems to check out fine on the engine aspect. And I can set up my network adapter, but I don't see any games, and I know people are playing/games are up from the chat. I refresh, I logout, turn off both, etc etc. I feel like i've tried everything.

Could you see other players pings in the room? Also do you have a certain ip address the port forward points too? |

Yes I can see other players pings.
Also, DId I not forward the ports correctly? Does that screenshot not show it set up correctly? It never gave me an option to set what port to forward TO, so I just assumed that it was forwarding it to the routers default IP? |

Usually you have to point the port forward to a certain IP then go into the ip
settings on your computer and set it to only use that IP. I've never set one
up before that didn't require setting a certain IP on the computer after
forwarding. Were you able to see any games? I would also try checking
to be sure that your PS2 is using a good IP address.
Edit: If all else fails you could try running a windows emu with kai to make
sure it's not an issue with mac.
I'll be on skype for a little bit if you want help. skype tag:lstickeyl |

I have set my computer to use a static IP, the one that my router is using.
Just to clarify (from seeing all of the tutorials) when I set up my ps2 network configuration and I had to type in a manual IP, i use the Xlink Kai generated one correct? Not the one my computer is on?
Using this tool: http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/ps2assign.php |

Check your PS2 network configuration and make sure you have correct netmask 255.255.0.0. Manually entering that information normally not necessary as auto everything should work in most cases. |

Since my Computer is using the netmask of 255.255.255.0 I was told that has to be the same in my PS2 config. Can those be different? |

No, you have XLink Kai working now so you should leave everything a lone. |

I have a very similar issue to this, was trying to get it set up for the first time last night. I could see everyone's pings but couldn't see the room in Socom II. I tried different orbs, same thing.
The one issue that might be causing a problem that I can see is that I am running it through a wifi extender, but the port forwarding on the main router points to this wifi extender rather than my IP the other side of it. Might this cause the problem or should the auto settings be okay if I can see all the ping info?
Note: I am running this on Windows Vista not Mac. |

I have a WiFi extender, which the PS2 is hardwired to and my laptop wifi connects to. This connects to the main internet router.
I have checked the port forwarding, and the port on the router is forwarded to a static IP I have assigned my PC. It showed the name of the extender which confused me, but the IP is definitely of my PC. |

Last night I tried the bridging technique which didn't work. Not only did the PS2 not log on to the network, but somehow it even managed to interfere with Xlink connecting to the its network. Would prefer to get it working through the extender if you have any advice?
It establishes connection and shows pings, but it can't see the rooms in S2 LAN. Thanks |

Can you try connecting to the router instead of the extender just to rule out the extender as being the problem? |

You need to hook up PS2 to computer, or wired computer to the extender. Problem probably XLink only able to capture broadcast frames because it doesn’t have promiscuous mode.
As of bridge connection causing xlink not to connect then you even have Internet access? You probably need to change the WiFi adapter metric value, but bridging connection not needed in most cases anyway unless you not able to connect to LAN due to delay response.
So recommend solution be to just hook PS2 up to computer, or wired computer. You also may need to change your network adapter to your Ethernet port at http://127.0.0.1:34522/config.htm . As Xlink only listen on one adapter at a time so if it locks on wrong adapter you won't see any rooms. |

I'm sorry Dominator but it just flat out does not work. I have tried it without a bridge, and with. But when I try to log on to the LAN on PS2 it says unable to connect. I have tried every setting available in config for ethernet port, same result. The ethernet cable works because it was connecting before when it went through the extender.
As I type this I am directly connected to the broadband router, with static IP linked to the forwarded port, so it proves I have internet access (I even put the DNS in). Yet still, once I had the bridge set up, there was on occasion issues connecting to the orb in Xlink. Why this would be effected I have absolutely no idea?
To run an ethernet straight from the ps2 to laptop does it not have to be a special straight through cable if not going through a hub? |

Bit of searching and it looks like that ethernet cable needs to be a crossover cable? |

Yes that could be reason, but most modern Ethernet cards support mid x. You could try wired computer to router. |
