Connection with Cat5 network cable from Xbox to netbook?

Just wondering if it is possible to connect a Cat5 cable from the Xbox to a netbook that is currently running on a Wifi connection to connect online. If it is then i might need assistance because my Xbox doesn't pick up on anything other than the cables being plugged in.

Thanks for any useful info, I am brand new to this.

If you trying to connect to online there that's probably the problem. You want to play the games using System Link.

As of the cat5 cable to your Netbook that should be fine as long your Netbook Ethernet port support auto mdix it should work if not you will need a cross over cable, but resuming your Netbook is newer than 10, or so years I be doubtful that it won't support auto mdix.
