"You can't join this party." Error message

I've just downloaded xlink kai and gone through the general startup process.

I've advanced to the point that I can see other parties when I select "System Link" on the Halo 2 menu.

However, whenever I attempt to join one of the open lobbies, I get an error message that states, "You can't join this party. Please wait a moment and try again later."

I do not understand why I can't join these games, if someone could assist me, I'd be very appreciative.

Did you get this problem resolved? I'm having the same issue.

Same issue ever since the EU data collection nonsense. I consented and haven't been able to join Halo 2 matchmaking ever since. Looks like no one has a solution.

If it isn't already, try connecting the console & computer directly via an ethernet cable, nothing in between.
