That's good news, but can it also *send* to the DS?
I'll discuss with luis the possibility of including support for the PSP in the kaid tree - I'm *guessing* it should be pretty easy - but obviously cannot be sure.

My Set-up:
Apple Airport Station
AMX-64, ADSL Router and 4 Port 10/100Mbps Ethernet Switch (known to work really well with Airport)
Apple Powerbook g4 Ti (with Airport Card)
Mac OSX 10.3.7

OS X version is awaiting a new release which i think is coming 'soon'.
You should be able to happily connect to your Wireless network with the PSP for things like downloading PSP OS updates (not that there are any yet). Just make sure you use the Airport Admin utility to get the standard hex WEP key if you're using "WEP Password" rather than 40/128-bit hex/ascii for your encryption.
Airport Admin Utility: select your base-station then from the menu choose Base Station -> Equivalent Network Password. This will give you the equivalent of your Apple "WEP Password" to use on your PSP (or any other standard WEP equipment). |

No problem, hope it helps. It's a generic wireless tip for Airport BAse Station users, I can't guarantee that it'll work with the PSP (although it should in theory) as I didn't pick up a PSP when I had the chance. |

I've been trying to get my PSP working with my iBook... but kai doesn't seem to see packets from the PSP. I installed and configured Kai with the available Mac OS X/Darwin script, had it look at en1 which is the airport card in my iBook, and had the airport connect to the PSP ad-hoc network. Still, Kai reports that it has not detected my console no matter what I do. Any suggestions? |

I know my view is based on a different operating system (and I could be talking crap but....) Are you sure that your iBook is "seeing" packets from your PSP (when its in ad-hoc mode) as "Windows" will see the PSP however not register any packets FROM the PSP until Kai has configured for the PSP AND when someone has joined my game (or I've joined a game). |

I didn't think the Kai engine was downloadable for OS X at the moment as the previous release had issues (packet injection wasn't working) so wouldn't work. |

Well, I'm using a script that downloads and installs 7.0.0.2 so it makes sense then that it doesn't work. Unfortunately, my mac is the only computer i have with wireless, and the kaid for the linksys wrt54g that I have doesn't work with PSP yet so I guess I'll just have to wait... |

I was looking around Virtual PC to see if its possible to bridge it to PSP via wireless but i came to relaise that VPC doesnt see wireless network at all ...only uses OSX network interface whatever it is. So when it comes to PSP, VPC looks like a no go.
We'll have to wait for OSX version of kai. |

the java UI is just that, a user interface, not the actual kai engine, which is what I'm trying to get running with my PSP. The Java UI does work very well under OS X, as do most java apps thanks to the fact that java is integrated with the OS. |

I'm using VPC7 on my PowerBook to get my PSP online and played a few games. Yes, VPC won't use the AirPort directly as a wireless card, it only a software share by VPC, so, you need another wireless card exclusively for talking with PSP. In my understanding, what Kai is doing for you is capture every wireless frame which was originating from your PSP (that's why you need to host a game and use the wireless card to join the ad-hoc network created by PSP before you launch Kai) and send it out to the other players with no modification throught the tunnel.
To make the above thing works, the wireless network adaptor have to support "Promiscuous mode", which is often use by packet sniffer software to capture packet in silent. Not all adaptor support Promiscuous mode operation so that's why some of the adaptor will not work with PSP online play properly. If the adaptor which is not support, it will still able to connect with the PSP, but it will disconnect, connect , disconnect.......
I have just bought a Buffalo 11b adaptor and use it directly as a usb device throught VPC for the Windows installed.
Hopefully Kai will release a Mac version soon, but not sure if the AirPort on Macs support Promiscuous mode or not. |

Isnt there a way to hook up your mac to the web using ethernet and get VPC to recognise the airport card so you can get PSP talking to your airport via VPC ? |

Did you ever get yours to work? I'm having the same problem. I host a game, connect with my powerbook and start kaid. it doesn't see it at all. What's up with this? |

I've had absolutely no problem getting my psp to connect through my powerbook. i did find from one other user that you have to have an airport extreme or it will not work. sorry to you older ibook owners. as said in the other Airport/Powerbook topic, IM me if you need help setting it up. I'm goin gto make a FAQ/Setup guide tomorrow.
