OK - anyone playing with the XBMC CVS build, or anyone cool enough to have been given an ava preview, heres how to do it:
1.) Make sure your xbox has a STATIC ip address - and that you can FTP to it from ure PC. Make sure the Xbox and PC are on the same subnet and IP range.
2.) Go into kaiConfig from ure start menu - select the "dashboard" profile... press ok
3.) Start kai - only the engine will start - this is right.
4.) Start ure dash

Don't forget in xbmc you have to open up XboxMediaCenter.xml and enter your username and password:
<!-- online gaming settings, place your KAI tag name and password here !-->
<!-- If you don't already have one, visit http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/ to create your account !-->
<!-- NOTE THIS FEATURE IS COMPLETELY UNSUPPORTED FOR THE TIME BEING !-->

I tried this on a buddy's PC who only has 56k, and an open NIC that's not connected to anything. He's running XP Pro, so I setup ICS, plugged in the Xbox to the NIC with a crossover cable, setup the xbox with a static IP, and lo and belhold, it does work in XBMC. I could navigate the arenas, and if 56k was fast enough, I'd be able to play halo, the availble games showed up and everything.
But my problem is I have a cable modem at home, and everything is getting an IP via DHCP from the router. I can play XLink by using the Kai GUI, but setting an Static IP in EvoX (which is setup to launch before XBMC) doesnt allow XBMC to get through. So I'm assuming I'm not putting in the right subnet data. What should I put as the subnet mask and default gateway, and DNS in EvoX or whatever dashboard to allow this to work? |
