Games other than Ridge Racers? Any luck?

Has anyone successfully gotten a game other than Ridge Racers to work? I'm currently trying to get a Vampire Chronicle game going. I can see the other player on the PSP, and we can challenge each other, but when we accept the challenge, it sits there for a second, then pops back with an error. The difference between games like Vampire Chronicle and Ridge Racers is that VC doesn't set up a host/join environment. It has a lobby than can list up to 15 other players, and you can challenge any player that's in that lobby. Lumines works the same way.

I have a feeling that the error is related to the whole "another race leader already exists" error that Ridge Racers players are getting. I was trying to play with a Japanese player, and he said something about the error involving channel or SSID changing, which sounds about right.

So maybe private arenas won't solve the problem with that error message. Maybe the PSP is detecting my PC's network as another host and blocking the ability to host a new game or something? Am I talking crazy? Does any of this make sense? Should I just go back to bed and try to unlock more Lumines skins by myself?
