Exactly. And a laser is a lot more focused than that, so its even worse.
So keep it away from your eyes |

It's too bad Nintendo has a proprietary disk there, or I'd say to build in a slot loading drive.
Sony shoulda done that with the PSP. |

Really?
Other than the power needed to pull the CD in (which is almost trivial), they should draw the same amount of power for the laser. |

yeah, the extra power is in powering the motors that pull in the cd.....for the GC, I suppose it wouldn't be much of a factor, as it's power consumption is already pretty high, so a few more ma wouldn't be too bad....as for the psp, the reason they didn't go with a slot loading drive is 'cause they need to save as much power as they possibly can (only 50 more ma of power would decrease the battery life by almost an hour....although I'm not sure how much the draw would be for a slot loading drive motor...) |

But isn't the motor off when you're not putting a CD in? As a result, wouldn't the affect be minimal unless you're swapping CDs every two seconds? |

oh yeah ...........I guess then the reason is 'cause there's more small parts and therefore there's a higher chance of it getting broken .... |

well, trying to make a GCp out of only a DS would be like trying to get the Game Boy Color to play N64 games...unfortunately, it ain't gonna happen ........but you COULD use the DS as a screen (using the GBA AV in adapter) and have a "GC almost portable" unit plug in somehow ...... |

Dunno if you are a hardcore GC player and refuse to hear any ideas suggesting any other gamesystem..... but if you are willing to use other gamesystems i have a project for you.
But you would have to make one for me son as well =)
That is ...at cost if you could do it hehe. Anyhow if you are interested lemme know and maybe itll be more than just an idea in my head. |

To all cube lovers: Wouldn't you like to have a handheld gamecube, so that you could play Metroid Prime, Zelda, and Mario at the bus stop? Sure, anyone would, which is why have been building a GCp, set to be finished in the next few days !!!!!!!!!!!!! It's taking me about 9 long months but it's finally about to be finished . Here's a pic:
http://img139.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img139&image=gcpalmostdone1si.jpg (after the pic is done loading it should be resized)
I might be making a tutorial on it too, so that everyone can enjoy the GC anywhere!!!!!!!!!!
anyway, hope you guys like it . |
That looks fake, Are you seriouse or kidding? honestly |

actually, I HAVE built an N64p....actually, about 3 and a half (I'm still finishing the fourth one)....check out this place for all things portable (at least, homemade portables )
and the average battery is about 2 1/2 hours (and they can be recharged!!!!....in only an hour!!!!!) |
