yeah it would definitely work best with games where both players are on the same screen (fighters/sports gamesetc)
so i take it i'll be able to use this with my viperGC? |

i hope so as mine is viper modded now, not doing bad seeing as i`ve not had a single disc read error yet and not had a sync problem and every game has booted first time. if this program does worh then the cube could take off properly. lets see what happens |

As of right now, CS will not work with the Viper (or any non-PSO based bootloader). However, it would be very easy to make it work with Viper, and I plan to do so before any release.
Things are looking good for it - all I have to do now is debug it, and there are surprisingly less bugs than I had originally thought. That ISI bug is a stubborn little thing, but I'll get it fixed soon. |

I do, but not very often at all - I'm busy with schoolwork and other things. I won't be on today because of a load of homework (yes, over the weekend), and a dentist appointment. I might be available tomorrow, though. |

Progress: Yes. I'm still working on it. I have to fix an alignment bug and a size mismatch.
Viper: I already answered this, didn't I? Yes, it will work with the Viper.
Copied games: not really sure what you're talking about. You cannot play copied games with the ControlSim, but playing them should have no effect on how ControlSim works.
FIFA 2005: of course you can. You'll probably need to hack it a bit first, though.
Oh.... and P.S. @TheDaddy: Sorry I haven't been on for a while... I've had homework and I've been sick (which is why I didn't go to school today). |

was i meant to ask was, will backups work with this program when bootig with a viper modchip. im asking because we all use different boot discs and was wondering if that would mak any difference to the program. and how much hacking is required for us to be able to play fifa on it. how do we find the addresses. |

I'm not an expert, but I'm guessing that the methods used to boot copied games (GCSim, Viper, etc.) will affect how memory is allocated, therefore causing ControlSim to not work because it doesn't have the right addresses. I don't know if an Action Replay works with GCSim and Viper, but if it does, then there should be a way to get ControlSim to work as well. If worst comes to worst, it should be possible to find the addresses again for games that are running off of GCSim or Viper and tell ControlSim to use those addresses instead.
You find addresses using GCNrd, which is a remote debugger for GameCube. It is unfortunately not very easy; I've tried to find addresses for three games and I've struck out each time. |

It is not possible to play a backup online using ControlSim. It just won't work, for two reasons: (1) what Biolizard said; streamers probably use some area of memory that GCARS-CS reserves for itself. ControlSim will overwrite whatever's there already, so it would most likely crash. (2) In most cases, two different programs that both use the BBA, running at the same time, usually cause conflicts. One of them won't be able to access the BBA.
As for the Action Replay: The GCARS part of GCARS-CS acts just like an Action Replay. It runs while ControlSim is running, to support games with complicated enable codes. |

well the viper modchip doesnt use the bba in anyway, if you need people to test with the viper modchip, i`ll test for you, im not having any problems at all, and i`ve got a copy of sonic battle 2 on the go at the moment. we cant boot action replay at the moment but they`re working on it. getting a .dol file to boot is easy, just burn to a disc and select the .dol file you want and away you go. it would be great if you could get the program working with the viper modchip. |

there is a new bios which is out next week for the viper, at the moment the viper boot backups by reading the barcode etc from an original gamecube disc then you swap out with a dvdr backup, the bba isnt used at all, so i dont know if that helps you. i`ve got a bba doing nothing at the moment, its just sat in the cube, not even used it yet, but i`ll help you test if u need a modded cube to test on and to check for lag, my internet is, 1.5 meg download and 0.5 meg upload so i`ve got a decent base to test on. |

I remember you saying that homebrew programs could be played with ControlSim by using ControlSim, booting PSO, and loading a DOL. By doing the same thing with a GCM streamer as the DOL, wouldn't that work? I can see the RAM addresses being different because the streamer takes up memory, but I don't see why it would crash.
Also, I remember you saying that ControlSim could use the BBA at the same time as a game's LAN mode; why would that work but a streamer not work?

This method would work really well on college dorms or with low pingers but if this were implemented on the kai community wouldnt there be more latiency thant here is now with tunneling?
The old school emulators ( NES SNES GEN) they could all do this as well. ( i remember playing SNES multiplayer games durning class in my web design class lol) Games today are more sophisticated than the old ones (ie they will require alot more data sent from the "server" to the "client". |

Obviously latency is still an issue (as with all Internet games), but it's less annoying than LAN tunneled games. This is because ControlSim runs full speed instead of slowing down when it encounters latency. It does that by syncing game-state variables for the running game. As a result, latency causes your opponent to jump slightly instead of slowing down the whole game, which is a big improvement. |

ok i understand it now. it will kind of look like a game of halo with real bad lag. But exessive lag will result in players juming around bigtime. I guess people with really high BW will play using this method.
Please find a way to solve this problem. I cant play online untill all the other consoles are gone off the config list |
