Hi guys,

Im curious to if a mate and i plaied a game lets say mech assult 2 and we are on the same isp that does free peering between members will some of the gaming traffic be free or will it all be classed as external traffic as the data flows from me to the orb then to the other player? there is no direct data flowwing from my IP to his IP?

Cheers,

Viza

hmm dont quote me on this but i beleive that once you start playing the game all the traffic flows directly between the two players. The orb only sends and recieves info about which arena people are in and whos on etc etc.... the bulk of the traffic is straight from box to box. Like i said i could be wrong Cool

Excellent thanks Very Happy

Your theory sounds like what i would expect, i guess ill just HAVE to have a solid day of gaming with the 2 of us and see my usage report Smile but only in the intrest of testing :p

Also, how much data does flow? like how much would you say 1hr of halo 2 with voice would push through? i know there alot of variables in the equation but just a quesstimate.

Cheers

Yep, game traffic is P2P.

I've never done a good estimate - I think I got 40mb for 2 hours of Halo 2 (or maybe it was something else) though - but that's just a rough estimate.
