Hi, I am neko from Hong Kong Smile

by the way I had some Splinter Cell 2-PT games with a few users from the USA last night, the game play was smooth just like you are playing locally. Truely amazing Wink

I am only using the HKNet 3M boardband with a 64kbps upload, the ping time between each users was around 300-400ms if you want to know.

You can join but the main reason behind collecting these names was to reduce the ping, hence reduce the lag.

what is the ideal ping time for a lag free game? will the ping time be greatly reduced if all the members are in the asia area? e.g. HK vs Japan vs China etc., since I have no problem connecting to the US area for a reasonable game I am wondering is that really necessary to care about this. Rolling Eyes

I am new in the network gaming area so maybe I am wrong.

It depends on the game, some games require lower pings for lag free game such as Halo. Games such as Rainbow Six are playable with pings up to 250 but over this you would expect to get some lag. I think there is a list somewhere telling you which games require low pings and which games dont require such low pings such as Ghost Recon (I think).

acutally I had some good/low pings with USA players. Seems that US and Singapore has a direct pipe? I believe I remember reading about that somewhere.

For Netherlands, and Europe, it gets pretty bad. Better to stay with others in Asia. for me exception is USA players.
