This is a poll for allthose on kai who want to play modded halo.
This is a combination of 'superpowers' to bring the ultimate in organized and open online playing of modded halo.
Kai: Is the most flexible and powerful online interface for playing halo, i really doubt an 'xbc ui in 8 hours' is possible. But by far kai's biggest advantage over xbc is that we have TD (who has already shown enthusiastic support for this)
Halo Cache Editor: The most efficient and powerful way to modify the halo cache to play modded halo. all other methods involve going through the pc making it too cumbersome for making changes. One of the devs of HCE has showed his support here (guess who the guest poster is):
http://hce.sourceforge.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=39
and has pm'd me as well to tell me he wants to do this.
Halomods.com: The best resource for modified halo ppfs, and best forum for modded halo development. To play modded halo you inevitably have to come here anyway, however some things could make it easier for kai access and they could make it possible. One of the forum moderators: jkjk has pm'd me with some support and the go ahead to post a poll on their file only forum.. so this is a good first step too.
The application would be something like this: You start up HCE and connect to an hce chatroom IN KAI where you can chat from your box or in a private room about what ppfs to apply and what caches to load. You quit (no way around this unless you have a pc headset) and load up the appropriate caches on halo and boot up HCE again (hopefully private room will still be there) you easily navigat through a ppf menu (hopefully where halomods can come in) or other possibilities include: downloading ppfs from a database thru kai, HCE on MY box patches YOUR cache(s) thru kai. Then we load halo stright thru HCE and we're in business!!!
what do you think?
here is my new poll at halomods:

We will get all the network code working in v0.9 and TD said that once the network is working it shouldn't be too hard to get Kai support.
Checked through the sample kaiengine sources and it looks pretty simple
So this is an extra TODO for us |

In fact, thank you. all this halo talk, made me want to take a look at the game again, I hadent played it in such a long time, becuase to be honest i never saw what the attraction was.
But recently ive just poped into the halo (pal) room and jumped into a game, and had a semi-smooth expereance with some very fun games.
And this is on the old maps, so I must get round to downloading the new maps and hooking up for some games. |
