sounds cool.. would be nice if everyone in the community could pick it up - but doubtful

In addition to the auto-update, new downloadable content will be made available for download on Monday, 7th March 2005. It will include 3 maps, 2 modes, 8 weapons and 2 skins – be one of the first to grab it!

just curious...will the game be backward compatible with it's previous(original) version for those who are or aren't modded and don't have live...and does anyone know which game modes have been implemented.

youll still be able to play with people who have the update.. just not if they happen to be using any of the new features.
havent heard about the modes but cant wait to find out.

I think this stuff eventually makes it out to the 'other' xbox users too. Was the Rainbox Six 3 Assualt Pack 1 & 2 only available to Xbox Live users? Just curious, because you can find those on the net ready to be ftp'ed over to your box.

Be careful where you take this discussion. Those updates are copyrighted code only available to people who subscribe to XBL (and sometimes they put them in OXM, which you also buy).

yeah, but how do you figure it backwards compatible. My guess, is if you get this update, others will not longer be able to connect - such as a change in versions. Just a guess from other games.

ya this should be available in due time for those of us without LIVE. just like the PGR2 downloadable content.

People who have the patch (which is different from the downloadable content which will be out on Monday) are already reporting that they can't connect to people who don't have the patch on Live. I think it would be safe to assume that the same would go for System Link. Also, it's a mandatory update, so if you take your box onto Live, you're going to get the patch and you probably won't be able to play with people on Kai any more.

I have connected to people without the update...and people without the update have connected to me....and have for the last 8 hrs we have played. When people join my server...they can see when people Join and Exit the game....and while I'm joined in other games(without the patch) the little name box pops up so I can see who is talking.
