network detected=yes
xbox detected=no
firewall used= sygate firewall pro
xbox setup= using two nic cards on one pc

Hi,
I am having problems getting xbox detected. when firewall asked to allow xlink access to internet i clicked yes, but am unsure where to correctly enter other info such as allow ip address 0.0.0.1 full access, and to allow
port 3074 full access. Thanks for any help!

p.s I have already looked over previous topics and have only found
problems concerning xbox not being detected on a router.[/list]

OK, do the following.

Tools -> Options -> Security -> Enable driver level protection should be turned OFF. Hit OK.

Tools -> Advanced Rules -> Add ->

1. Give it any sort of 'Rule Description'. 'Kai' will be enough.
2. Click the 'Allow this traffic' radio button.
3. Make sure 'All network interface cards' is selected from the drop down box.
4. Press 'Hosts' up the top.
5. Click the 'IP Address(es)' radio button, and enter 0.0.0.1 into the box.
6. You should now see the rule summary as:

Rule Summary:
This rule will allow both incoming and outgoing traffic from/to IP address(es) 0.0.0.1 on all ports and protocols. This rule will be applied to all network interface cards.

If so, you should be fine. Tested it out here and XBox is detected fine. Just for good measure, I left the rule disabled as well as leaving driver level protection on, and sure enough, Kai wasn't able to detect the XBox.

Do as above and that should be all you need to know Smile

hello there, I just started using Xlink and also had a few problems with sygate, so I checked the firewall logs to see what I could do and came with the following solution:

create a rule to allow traffic on all ports and protocols for IP 0.0.0.1
and also
create a rule to allow traffic on UDP protocol remote port 3074, local port 3074 for IP 255.255.255.255

and voila!

this way your xbox will get detected and you don't need to disable driver level protetion

hope this helps Smile

Sorry to dig up such an old thread..
I also use sygate (but the free version not PRO)
and I followed the instructions(and double checked) that were posted here.
I never had a problem with Kai detecting my xbox without setting up those rules.. but I cannot see any games in the system link menu on xbox.. even after setting up the rules the way you guys described above..
I tried both ways that were mentioned..
Quote:
disable driver level protetion

And
Quote:
create a rule to allow traffic on UDP protocol remote port 3074, local port 3074 for IP 255.255.255.255

I will keep searching around.. but any help would be appreciated.
One last thing, If I close Sygate then I can play fine.. so I know it has to do with the firewall..

Do both the one for IP 255.255.255.255 and one for 0.0.0.1

yah, i have both rules going.. check and check..
'nother quick question.. the last tab is for applications.. you can either deselect all.. select all, or just select the three instances of KAI running..
does this matter.. I tried a few variations of that w/o success aswell.

-Also heard ppl talking about problems using wireless network setups to play sys-link.. I'm using a wireless game adapter from Linksys.. hasn't given me trouble FTPing and playing XBOX LIVE.. could that be a part of my problem with syslink?

Shocked
Hmm I was playing around with the option (select/deselect) a bit.. and now I seem to be stuck at "queerying orbital mesh" when I try to log into KAI..
I don't know if thats a direct relation to what I was doing as I chgd the setting before trying to log in.. so last night was the last time I logged in and it was fine then.. I undid all chgs and still cant log in.. weird.
Maybe the server is down.. Idea
