I really, really, really, really, really want a PSP
Its sad but they have had DSs in my local shopping centers for weeks now, I have had a play with them, held them, looked at the games, seen what they can do and the early surge in excitement I had for getting one has faded into nothing
I just dont like the DS now I have seen and used it. I am so glad I didnt pre-order or import one now. It looks like, and I feel gutted for saying this, that Nintendo got it wrong.
Dont get me wrong the DS would be a great toy for my 10yr old step brother. But to me thats all it is, a novelty toy. Saddens me as I have just this Xmas re-ignited my love of Nintendo by getting a GC.
Then theres its Sony, to me they have never really been a gaming company. Ive always seen there products as not so much ground-breaking as simply well marketed
Anyway, what do you lot think?? Am I wrong going for the PSP? Look at the numbers involved, its more powerfull, it looks nicer, it has some real nice games, it can play music/video and it works with Kai..... did I miss anything? |

No you didnt mate... I have seen pretty much every video and image that i could find on the PSP....I got a ps2, its gathering dust on my shelf. So when i first heard of the PSP i wasnt that botherd, But now i have taken another look at it, and seen the impressive launch titles (c`mon that NFSU and ridge racers look shit hot) Im getting one....gonna import from uncle sam!
The Ds might get bought if i have a spare £100 one day, but i doubt that day will come soon..hehehe.
And best of all, i can just open the box, fire it up, and play some games via Kai... As alan partridge would say "back of the net"
Bring it on!
BTW....i dont want a flame war here. |

This is true, but I have to say I dont think I would use the a PSP or a DS for that matter for much real "portable" use. I can imagine simply chilling out maybe in the garden at summer time connected to my my WiFi network playing online maybe

Ha ha ha, what an eeevil combination
At least the a few Sega games should be coming to the PSP, ahh the fallen giants done good....

Nintendo's trouble at the moment is that the CURRENT games lineup sucks.
The UPCOMING games look VERY, VERY nice indeed.
Some of the best:
Animal Crossing DS (online)
MARIO KART 64!! (also online)
Advance Wars DS
Metroid Prime Hunters
Super Mario Bros. (Totally new)
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Chaos Theory
Nanostray
Meteos
Need for Speed Underground 2
World Championship Poker DS
Viewtiful Joe DS
Chronicles of Narnia
Dynasty Warriors
Castlevania DS
Bomberman DS
GoldenEye: Rogue Agent
Frogger
Blades of Thunder 2
Age of Empires DS
MegaMan Battle Network DS
Rayman DS
Star Wars Episode III DS
The full (MASSIVE) games list:

The DS has some awesome stuff coming.

personally im getting neither: i dont trust PSP's build quality after having owned a ps1 and ps2 witch both had read problems.
DS just looks like something Nintendo launched to stop PSP.
I know pretty sure that we'll see GBA2, or whatever its gonna be called within 2 years, and itll be technically superior to both psp and DS, rumours are itll play GC games out of the box.
So i think i'll just wait for that |

i know what you mean but its those upcoming titles like animal crossing thats going to be online that stops me from selling it. i know you dont know me and i dont know you but i advise that you keep it and wait to see its strongest games and you might change your mind. |

Hopefully by the time both consoles reach the uk most of these games will be out and tried and tested.
However like ive said before never being a Sony console owner has all of a sudden got some payback. Certain games like ICO for example always appealed and if they come out on the PSP even if they are simply PS2 re-makes what the hey |

PSP is way better than the DS. Not only is it's hardware much better (DS's graphics suck @$$) but it has a ton more features and much better games (really, compare a sucky mario 64 with horrible controls to dynasty warriors or metal gear solid).
Hmm. . . the only problem is I can't afford either :'( |

Well suppose your right, the whole media player thing for the PSP is a good draw as well. If you could get some 1gb+ cards for it that would be nice. Or writable UMDs.

PSP media functions SUCK. Don't buy it for media.
Less than TV resolution isn't a nice thing for video.
The memory cards cost a fortune (1 GB card = $170-$200).
To get the capacity of a 1 GB iPod Shuffle ($150) you have to buy the PSP and the memory card- $450. |

Think again - the PSP screen is very high-res for the size. You'd be impressed if you saw it in person. |

For the size, yes. It's perfectly fine for games (bigger than the DS's screen). But 480 x 272 is the resolution. TV and DVD resolution in the US is 640x480, and I believe in Europe it's 720xsomething. So yeah...it's below TV's resolution. |
